For over forty years, the UYFC has supported Cambodian youth through educational, cultural, and civic projects, while contributing to the preservation of national heritage.
In Cambodia, few organizations have left such a mark on contemporary youth as the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, better known by its acronym UYFC.
Present throughout the kingdom, the UYFC now plays a major role in education, culture, volunteering, sports, and civic engagement. Through its many projects, it helps train new generations while promoting Cambodian identity and heritage.
But how was this organization born? What are its missions? And why has it become one of the most influential actors among Cambodian youth?

What is the UYFC?
The UYFC is a Cambodian youth organization founded on December 2, 1978, under the name "United Youth Association for National Salvation of Kampuchea." Its initial goal was to participate in mobilizing youth in the context of the country's liberation and reconstruction after the Khmer Rouge period.
Over the decades, the organization evolved into a social and associative structure dedicated to the development of Cambodian youth. Today, it is present in all 25 provinces of the country as well as in many educational and university institutions.
An organization born in a unique historical context
To understand the UYFC, we must go back to the late 1970s.
Cambodia was emerging from one of the most tragic periods in its history. After the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime in January 1979, the country had to be rebuilt on human, economic, and institutional levels.
It was in this context that the UYFC was founded on December 2, 1978. According to its official history, the organization participated in mobilizing youth to support national reconstruction, education, and development efforts.
In the following years, it supported numerous programs for students, young workers, farmers, and future leaders of the country.
